FEBRUARY FAVORITES

So happy that the dark months of January and February are almost over. We're on the other side of Winter! Before the month is out, I wanted to share some of the things I've been loving this February. I hope you love them too!

SKINCARE

This was my go-to in high school, but I somewhat abandoned it during college, due to the scarcity of Lush stores in Ohio. After receiving it as a wonderful stocking stuffer this Christmas, my love has been restored! This is a very gentle cleanser with a touch of exfoliation, and nothing but natural ingredients.

I am absolutely one of those people who never wore sunscreen except at the beach. But after reading the thousandth testimony declaring the wonders of sunscreen when applied daily, I decided to give it a shot. I started with Coola's Rosilliance which was lovely, but not quite my shade, and moved to Nars Moisturizer with SPF. Dark spots diminished, agelessness was achieved, and I feel great. Those UV rays are actually pretty scary, and this is one of my biggest revelations of my mid-twenties.

Juara Miracle Tea Complete Eye Care

This has been a miracle product for me. It immedietly makes my dark under eye circles lighter, and is super hydrating to (hopefully) prevent little creases around my eyes. And even better, it's a natural product! I love that I can avoid putting chemicals near my eyes while still taking care of them.

MAKEUP

I know I am incredibly late to the game, but Boy Brow is amazing! The subtle color, the formula, the little brush--it's all glorious. I thought all little brow brush tubes were made alike, but I was wrong! Something about this brush distributes the solution evenly, so it doesn't all clump in one area, doesn't make brows harden as if there's something sticky on them, and keeps every hair in place all day! I've used it every day since, even if I'm not wearing any other makeup. 10/10.

I mentioned this above in Skincare, but this is just one of those classics that has made my life easier. The foundation I was trying out in January was drying the life out of my winter-skin, and the beautiful woman at Sephora suggested this as a moisturizing formula. Loaded with SPF and something that smells divine, this light-weight, medium coverage foundation swipes on like a dream and gives a subtle polish to my everyday routine.

MISCELLANEOUS

Often, I find myself obsessing or stressing about things much more than necessary, and my general state of being seems to be just "anxious." I'd heard of Headspace before and decided to give it a try with its free Basics 1 package. That was back in October, and meditation has made me feel so much better, I recently subscribed to the full program. I don't do it every day, although that is my goal, but each day I find the time to practice meditation, I feel so much calmer and focused. Headspace offers great multiple-session packages that focus on the basics, relationships, self-esteem, athletic performance, and much more. But they also offer "singles" that you can pick up anytime you need a little help with mindfulness, designed specifically for your commute, if you have a big presentation, if you're falling asleep, and for so many other instances.

The guided sessions help so much, and I recommend this to everyone.

Hearts & Bones Rescue

This is something that I plan to write about in MUCH greater detail later, but Scott and I adopted a dog! We adopted through Hearts & Bones Rescue organization, and they were definitely one of my favorite things this month, not only for bringing us one of the greatest loves, but also for their mission. Hearts & Bones rescues dogs from high-kill shelters in Texas, and transports them up to NYC, operating exclusively through foster families, so these dogs feel loved from the moment they arrive. This is such a big undertaking, and I have so much respect for them. They also somehow get the cutest dogs?? Every one of the dogs they rescue is adorable, so they clearly have an eye for the cuties. If you're in the Texas or NYC area, definitely visit their page often, and consider adopting or fostering!
